SJPII’s First Communicants

SJPII has been blessed with 6 first communicants this year! It is such an exciting year to prepare to receive the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus in Holy Communion. We have diligently studied the parts of the Holy Mass, the Sacred Vessels, and Vestments of the ordained. We have grown in love and knowledge of this great Sacrament!

The final project for our first communicants is the making of a tabernacle! Then they are supplied with a Mass kit to take home and keep aflame their love for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Visit from Sr. Mary Samuel

The children and staff had a special visit this week from Sr. Mary Samuel, O.P.. Sr. Mary Samuel is one of the four founders of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist from Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Sisters are the creators of the resources of Disciple of Christ, Education in Virtue.

The children shared with Sr. Mary Samuel some of their recitations, sung Latin prayers, writing samples, and of course questions about life as a religious sister.

Sr. Mary Samuel also shared some of her videos of the young and joyful sisters. What a delightful afternoon!

First Holy Communion and Fellowship

Last week, two SJPII students received Jesus for the first time! Their best friend, who received her first holy communion the week before, was there to celebrate with them! How beautiful.

A Visit from Father

The first and second grade students had a lovely visit with Father Michael Thiel last week. He taught the children about vestments and shared the prayers associated with each.
